Welcome

Hello class!

Welcome to our blog on the great Passage Tomb called Newgrange.

In this blog we will be exploring the history of our amazing local attraction.

I hope you enjoy our work as historians.

Let the adventure begin.....

Lesson 1

Good-Morning class!

Today is our first lesson in our historical inquiry on Newgrange.

Today we will learn about the different types of tombs that existed in pre-historic times!

First of all, we are going to make a K.W.L chart on Newgrange.

Pair-work:

In pairs, you will make a short Podcast about what you would like to learn about Newgrange.

In the podcast, please mention one thing each that you want to find out.

Group Work:

In groups of three or four, take a look at this Glogster.

Then see if you can answer the questions that I will provide you with...

Lets get our thinking caps on!!

Q.1. What do you think the structure was built for?

Q.2. What does the design tell you?

Q.3. What do you think it was used for?

Q.4. How do you think it was built?

Q.5. What materials do you think were used to build the structure?

Q.6. Why was it built here?

Q.7. When was it built?

Q.8. Has it changed since it was first built?

Q.9. Who built it?

Q.10. What difficulties would have arisen while building it?

Individual work:

I will give you each a sheet and you will sketch an image of one of the prehistoric tombs. I will then photograph your sketches and place them on our blog for everyone to see! :-)
